Offshore web development in Tunisia: what to expect, and how to hire a team that ships

Tunisia sits one hour from Paris and one hour from Conakry, works in French, English and Arabic, and has a deep pool of web developers. Here is what that means in practice — and how to tell a team that ships from one that does not.

In short
  • Time zone: UTC+1 all year, within an hour of Paris, London and Conakry — real-time collaboration, not overnight handoffs.
  • Languages: French, English and Arabic are working languages, not translations.
  • Check live production work, what you will own and who actually writes the code before you sign.
  • We have shipped for clients in Tunisia and Guinea, all remotely.

Why Tunisia

  • Time zone: Tunisia is on UTC+1 all year — the same as Paris in winter, one hour off in summer, and one hour ahead of Conakry and Dakar.
  • Languages: French is the default business language, English is standard in tech, Arabic is native. Multilingual products are normal here, not exotic.
  • Talent: a large engineering-school output with strong JavaScript and web experience.
  • Cost: lower than Western Europe for comparable seniority — though the gap is narrower than it used to be.

For francophone Africa specifically

Companies in Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire or Senegal often choose between a local freelancer and a European agency. A Tunisian team sits in between: francophone, close in time zone, used to bilingual FR/EN delivery for buyers who are international. We built bilingual sites for SDMCO (construction and public works) and Sogetrac (mining logistics), both in Conakry, entirely remotely.

What to check before hiring

  1. Live work. Ask for URLs of projects running in production today, not mockups.
  2. Ownership. Know in writing what is yours (domain, content, data) and the terms for getting the source code.
  3. Who writes the code. A named team, not a subcontracting chain.
  4. Scoping. A written, one-page scope with a fixed quote beats an hourly estimate that drifts.
  5. Handover. Documentation another developer can follow, and a deploy you can repeat without the original team.

What we build

Custom web platforms on Next.js, Node and PostgreSQL; SaaS products with billing and multi-tenancy; AI features grounded in your own data (retrieval-augmented generation over documents); and fast, multilingual showcase sites. Among live projects: El Maître, a legal platform with an assistant over 8,000+ bilingual legal articles, and Taland, a job platform with AI matching.

Common questions

Do you work in English?

Yes. We work in English, French and Arabic, and ship products in all three.

How do you handle communication?

Video calls, email and WhatsApp, in your working hours. Tunisia is one hour or less from most of Europe and West Africa.

Who owns the code?

Your domain, content and data are yours, and you have unlimited use of what we build. The code remains ours; a full source code transfer is available on quote.

Can you take over an existing project?

Yes. We start with an audit so you know what you actually have before committing to anything.
